Search the common questions below, or use the shortcuts if you just want to join, apply, or track an application.
Getting Started
What is the fastest way to get started?
Join the Project Western Discord, open the New Player Guide, choose a starting path, then use the Applications page. The website will show whether a department is open and whether you are eligible.
Do I need a website account?
No. Project Western uses Discord verification instead of a separate website username and password.
Where should a brand-new player start?
Civilian Operations and LAFD are the direct-entry paths when their applications are open. LAPD, LASD, and CHP use service progression requirements.
Applications
How do I apply?
Open Applications, connect Discord, choose an eligible department, and complete the application. After submission, use the Application Tracker to follow the status.
Why does a department say Restricted?
Restricted means you are not currently eligible. The application row shows the reason, such as missing service time, an existing application, or a cooldown.
How do I become eligible for LAPD or LASD?
You become LEO eligible after 14 continuous days in Civilian Operations or 7 continuous days in LAFD. The department also needs to have applications open.
How do I become eligible for CHP?
CHP requires at least 30 continuous days in LAPD or LASD, and CHP applications must be open.
Can I apply directly to Civilian or LAFD?
Yes. Civilian Operations and LAFD are direct-entry paths when their applications are open.
What happens after I submit?
Your application is saved and sent into the Project Western review workflow. The tracker will show the current status and final decision.
How long is the denial cooldown?
The current denial cooldown is 12 hours for that department. Your tracker shows when you can reapply.
Tracker
Where can I see my application status?
Open the Application Tracker and connect the same Discord account you used to apply. Your own applications will appear there.
What statuses can I see?
The tracker shows stages such as submitted, under review, accepted, denied, and reapply information when a cooldown applies.
Roleplay
What does realism mean here?
Believable decisions, communication, pacing, and consequences. Realism should improve scenes without turning the game into unnecessary paperwork.
What does roleplay over winning mean?
The goal is to create a good scene for everyone involved, not simply force the outcome your character wants.
Server
What framework does Project Western use?
Project Western uses a hybrid QBOX + vMenuOx setup designed to keep useful persistent systems without making normal roleplay feel like a constant grind.
